Welcome to the New Vibe Yoga Blog
Hi, I’m Alex Schatzberg. In 2014 I founded New Vibe Yoga. I created the studio with the intention of offering the traditional teachings of Ashtanga yoga in an authentic, therapeutic, non-dogmatic, and joyful way, accessible to anyone interested in learning the practice. Today, at our home in the East Village of New York City, we offer Mysore style ashtanga instruction, guided asana classes, kriya and meditation classes, private lessons, workshops, events, and Ashtanga yoga teacher trainings. We also have two overnight guest rooms where you can come stay with us and submerse yourself in the practice of yoga right here in the heart of New York City.
This year, we created our first New Vibe Yoga online classes, so people who cannot come to the studio can still learn from and practice with us. And now we have decided to start this blog as an additional online resource, both for New Vibe Yoga students and for the broader yoga community.
In the New Vibe Yoga Blog, we will share our understanding of and approach to the practice and teaching of Ashtanga yoga. We will focus not just on the asana practice, but also on other limbs of Ashtanga, with which students may be less familiar but which are perhaps ultimately more important. We will also share ideas about the lifestyle that bests supports the practice of yoga, and about how to cultivate health and vitality through the teachings of Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science.
We hope that this blog will help our current students deepen their knowledge about all the limbs of Ashtanga yoga, and about the yoga lifestyle. We also hope that it will provide people who are curious about the yoga path the inspiration and encouragement they need to take up yoga practice.
